An eSIM, short for 'embedded Subscriber Identity Module,' is a type of SIM card that is built into a device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch. Unlike a traditional SIM card, which is a physical card that needs to be inserted into a device's SIM slot, an eSIM is embedded directly into the device's hardware.
Using an eSIM, you can easily activate a carrier's ( Lycamobile) profile directly from your device without the need to physically visit a carrier (Lycamobile) store or wait for a SIM card to arrive by mail. Here's how it works:
- First, you need to check if your device is compatible with eSIM.
- Next, you can order an eSIM and plan from your carrier. They will send you an email with a QR code that you can scan using the device you want to install the eSIM on. Simply follow the exact instructions to activate the eSIM with the plan you chose as they may vary as per device and carrier type.
Your Lyca Mobile ESIM must be activated in the Austria. Once your ESIM is activated in the Austria, you can use it internationally according to your mobile plan.
To swap a physical SIM with an eSIM, you can follow these steps:
- Check if your device is compatible with eSIM.
- Login to my account section; make a request to swap your physical SIM with an eSIM.
- You will provided with a QR code that you can scan using the device you want to install the eSIM on. The QR code will be displayed in my account section or sent to you via email.
- On your device, go to the settings and select "Mobile Data" or "Cellular Data".
- Look for the option to add a new plan or scan a QR code to activate an eSIM.
- Scan the QR code provided by your carrier using your device's camera.
- Follow the instructions to activate the eSIM.
- Once the eSIM is activated, your current plan will be transferred to the eSIM and your physical SIM will be deactivated.
